Q: Why is this event called No Kings?
A: The theme of this nationally organized day of action is “No Kings” in response to
the military parade in Washington, DC the same day. Although the DC parade is supposed
to be a celebration of Flag Day and the Army’s 250th birthday, Donald Trump is
using it to glorify himself. The cost of this parade is estimated at $45 million or more—all while dismantling lifesaving programs for the most vulnerable.
Countries under dictatorial regimes often hold such parades to establish the strength of the leader and instill fear in observers.
The thousands of No Kings events orchestrated across the country on the same day are a repudiation of the Trump Administration’s tyrannical actions, not of the military.
By turning out in force and in great numbers, we demonstrate opposition to the fascist agenda overtaking our government.
Our power is COLLECTIVE POWER
Q: Why was Twelve Corners chosen as a central location for NO KINGS in Rochester?
A: Past events at Twelve Corners have sparked ongoing discussions about balancing
free speech with community safety. A petition titled "Protect Free Speech in Brighton"
was initiated to support the right to protest at Twelve Corners Park, emphasizing
the importance of upholding First Amendment rights while maintaining public order.
In summary, Twelve Corners in Brighton serves as a focal point for community activism,
where local residents and Rochesterians actively participate in addressing social issues,
supporting local initiatives, and engaging in public discourse.
Plus it’s really cool.

Q: Why June 14th from 9am to 11am?
A: The national call to protest for NO KINGS on 6/14 coincides with our community’s Juneteenth Festival. Careful consideration to the festival was used in organizing the Brighton action.
From 9-11am the VISIBILITY PROTEST has been organized as a mass statement of
defiance to authoritarian wanna-be, Donald J.Trump and the fascist, white-supremacist
goons he has assembled in his administration.
It’s not a rally, there will not be speakers.
If you need to leave early, you’ll at least have had the opportunity to
voice your dissent and be counted among the resistance.
9am through 11am are the hours in which 50501 Rochester will have
marshals, organizers and LO’s on hand to assist protesters.
Q: What should participants bring?
A: Demonstrators are encouraged to bring the following:
*UPSIDE DOWN AMERICAN FLAGS* – 6/14 is FLAG DAY in the U.S. and
the United States of America is succumbing to authoritarian rule.
The visual theme of having a sea of Upside down American Flags will be highlighted at the Twelve Corners NO KINGS demonstration in Brighton.
Other FLAGS on poles or sticks only - should be reserved at this event if possible.
This applies to flags on poles only, in order create a cohesive visual message to the White House.
SIX MARCHES – ONE MESSAGE
"WE STAND IN DEFIANCE TO THE AUTHORITARIAN COUP IN THE UNITED STATES
LED BY OLIGARCHS AND WHITE SUPREMACISTS.”
Donation for Veteran’s Outreach Center: donations of underwear and socks will be collected at assembly points. New/Unused items only, in both men’s and women’s sizes will be collected, organized and delivered to VOC by 50501 Rochester.

Q: Will restrooms be available?
A: No. Please plan ahead for a 2-hour event.
Protesters should be respectful of local businesses that are open - do not use their restrooms unless you are a paying customer.
Q: Is this a peaceful protest?
A: Yes. 50501 is committed to non-violence, peaceable protesting.
Violent behavior, of any type and from any source, will not be tolerated.
Perpetrators may be subject to arrest.
Q: Are there safety measures in place?
A: Yes. Trained marshals will be available to safely direct participants in navigating crosswalks and to de-escalate conflicts that may arise, call emergency services if needed and communicate with a medic for first aid needs.
If you have a critical health emergency while protesting, please call 9-1-1.
Legal observers from the National Lawyers Guild will be present.
Q: Is there a permit for his event?
A: The required permit has been granted for the use of 12 Corners Park
